Hagi ware originated in the late 16th century in Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and is renowned for its earthy clay body and delicate glazes, often in muted tones of white, pink, or light brown. Over time, the glaze develops fine cracks (called "crazing"), which absorb tea and slowly change color, a process known as "nanabake" (七化け), meaning "seven transformations." This characteristic is highly prized by tea practitioners because the chawan (tea bowl) develops a unique patina through use.The Matcha bowl is good for everyday use. Besides making and drinking tea, you can also use a matcha bowl for eating dishes, such as rice, salad, and soup.
